An Ode to Grumpy Cat

Hello again everyone! I hope all has been well for you. Life in my household has been absolutely nuts for the past couple of weeks. Not to worry! I have a new piece to share with you all as a by-product of my absence!

So, last weekend happened to be Grizzly Bear's Big Bad 30th Birthday (as well as my official graduation ceremony, wee!). In lieu of said wonderful event I decided to make Grizzly a painting. He's an avid LolCats and Grumpy Cat fan, so who better to do a delightfully tacky portrait of than Tard (Grumpy Cat) herself! Needless to say the boyfriend fell in love with the painting instantaneously and is quite a happy man now.

And now - without further ado - here is the documentation of my laborious feat!

Oh and PS: in case you're curious this was mixed media done on Aquaboard (Aquarelle, I think?)

Happy Earth Day!

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a wonderful Earth Day and celebrating this lovely little place we call home :)

For my Earth Day celebrations I decided to create a nature-inspired piece (I was feeling some feathers and ferns today). This was done in ink, ink water-soluble pencils, and watercolor. I have to say this was so much fun I just might do a few more pieces using this method. Jellyfish, anyone?

And so - without further ado - here are some step and detail photos of my process. Enjoy!

I'm baaaack!

Alrighty, so after a good little dose of the infamous artist's block I'm finally back to work. Life has been a little hectic lately between weddings, housework, and job hunting. Therefore, in order to prove that I've finally got my rear in gear I am posting a couple of pics of some ground-laying I'm doing for my next piece. I know it's not too interesting, but here ya go!

Dollface #2

Here is my second attempt at the Dollface. I'm pretty sure this is about a million times better than the first one although I can still see some things that need to be tweaked a little. Also, I'm kind of thinking about turning this into a series. Thoughts?
